Purpose
Boulart Inc. is committed to providing an environment respecting human rights and that is free of discrimination and harassment, where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, can contribute fully, and have equal opportunities. Boulart Inc. respects, upholds and supports the fundamental rights of workers. Our approach to human rights is informed by international instruments including, but not limited to, the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labor Organization’s 1998 Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and the Canadian Human Rights Act.
This Policy describes Boulart’s approach to human rights in our operations, including all associates at all levels of the organization, as well as our promotion of respect for human rights across our supply chain. It covers our approach to due diligence, selection of salient human rights issues, and reporting processes.
Scope
This Policy:
- applies at every level of Boulart Inc., and extends to all partners, employees (including full-time, part-time, temporary, probationary, casual and contract staff) and students
- applies to every aspect of the employment relationship, including recruitment, selection, promotion, transfers, training, salaries, benefits, discipline and performance appraisals
- applies to the physical offices of Boulart Inc.
- extends outside of the offices of Boulart Inc. (such as off-site client meetings, business travel, firm-sanctioned social events and to electronic communications)
Salient issues
Boulart’s approach to human rights due diligence prioritizes addressing the human rights issues that are most salient to our activities or business relationships. We identify our salient human rights priorities based on factors such as the scale, severity, and likelihood of the potential adverse human rights risk and list the key aspects for each salient issue.

- Combatting forced and child labor
- Forced, trafficked, child and underage labor
- Vulnerability of migrant workers, responsible recruitment
- Using technology and personal data responsibly
- Data privacy and security
Reporting and complaint investigating
Boulart Inc. encourages associates, employees and all collaborators to raise issues, ask questions and report concerns in good faith and without any fear of retaliation. Boulart Inc. commits to investigating every case or complaint received. Information obtained about an incident or complaint, including identifying information about any individuals involved, will not be disclosed unless disclosure is necessary to protect employees, to investigate the complaint or incident or to take corrective action or otherwise as required by law.
All employees have a right to freedom from reprisals or threat of reprisals for refusing to accept harassment in any form, for making a formal complaint or cooperating in an investigation.
Anyone at Boulart Inc. found to have engaged in conduct constituting a violation of human rights may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
